Internal Dampness

If mold has been a health issue for centuries then, surely, medical treatment for mold exposure is not new. For this reason, Chinese Medicine has piqued my interest. The art of healing through acupuncture has been around for 2500 years. Western medicine as we know it has been around less than 150 years. The surgeries and drugs of modern day are nothing short of miraculous in many cases. But with chronic injuries like ours, the tools for healing are limited. Thus we have taken our mycotoxin knowledge and entered the world of acupuncture.

Combat Strategy

Those who have made the connection between their illness and toxic mold have become warriors. They are on the front lines. Their enemy is powerful and elusive. Combat strategies become imperative.

There are all sorts of weapons available in the form of supplements, binding agents, and pharmaceuticals, but experts in the field agree: The first line of defense is avoidance.

Canary in the Coal Mine

In the 1800's canaries were used to save lives. Miners would take a caged canary to their worksite. If the bird stopped singing (or died) the miners would vacate immediately. The bird was telling them the air quality was unsafe.

Those of us who have had a major mold exposure often become chemicially sensitive. Essentially we become canaries. We can sense the safety of an environment. When we first moved into our present home I became nervous.

Nevada Legislation

The Nevada legislature has adopted legislation regarding indoor mold. With knowledge such as this I continue to be amazed at the lack of knowledge within the medical community. But the tide continues to turn.

ASSEMBLY CONCURRENT RESOLUTION-Designating the month of September 2009 as National Indoor Toxic Mold Awareness Month.

WHEREAS, People of all ages and backgrounds throughout the world have developed illnesses because of exposure to indoor toxic mold, and it is estimated that 500,000 deaths occur annually in the United States as a result of such exposure; and

WHEREAS, Most molds produce mycotoxins, which are toxic vapors created by mold spores, that are poisonous to humans and animals, and have even been used as biological weapons in war; and
